Wills & Estate Planning

Nobody likes to think about making a Will, often because it seems too complicated or because most of us don't want to consider the inevitable. To ensure your wishes are carried out after your death it is vital to have a will. All adults who own assets should make a will, yet estimates indicate that 70% of the adult population do not have a Will. Do not leave it until it is too late.

Five important facts about Making a Will

  • If you are married and don't make a will, the whole of your estate will not necessarily go to your surviving spouse!
  • If you are not married and have a partner, without a will your partner will inherit nothing.
  • When you make a will, you choose who will benefit from your estate. Without a will the Government effectively makes that decision for you.
  • If you have minor children, you choose who will be responsible for them by appointing Testamentry Guardians in your will. Don't leave this choice to others or to the Courts!
  • If you have married, separated, divorced or remarried since you made your will, it is essential to make a new one.
